BIG UPDATE

We're so pumped to release this latest update to The Crypt Has Opened. After some incredible play tests we've tweaked the rules a bit to reinforce what's working and added clarification to many of the Spell Paths.

One of the biggest additions to the game is the Human Die when rolling for mundane skills. Originally when using one of your mundane skills you only rolled the Skill Die and an Imposition Die. This caused a bit of a disconnect as players were used to rolling three die with everything else. So to fix this we've added the Human Die. This die represents your innate human ability. While this die can never be raised through leveling, practitioners can use their spells Paths such as Enchantment or Preparations to help boost these skills beyond their cap.

Finally, we also added a sneak peak at one of the Cryptids you'll find in the final book. The Ozark Howler. With this entry you'll get a better understanding of how the game expects a Cryptid entry to look and the Crypt Keeper should go about using it. You'll also have the tools necessary to create you own!

In general the Crypt Keeper portion of the SRD has been expanded with some helpful insights on running the game.

Another fantastic reason to download this version is a better layout. Feedback was unanimous that the previous book was a bit confusing with how the character creation section was structured. We've addressed these issues and believe this new version will be much easier to digest and help you build the exact character concept you want. We can't wait to hear what you all come up with.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Now we begin working on the back half of the book. This is all the lore, cryptids, organizations, and anything that pertains the actual setting of The Crypt Has Opened. We can't wait to share it with you all. There may still be some updates to the SRD depending on future playtests. Though right now we're very happy with where it is at. The biggest question mark with the mechanics is how leveling is handled. Right now there haven't been enough games to determine if it's working as intended or needs some tweaking. From what we have seen, it will probably have a pretty big overhaul.
